Nanjing University Business School (NJUBS) originated from the business discipline of Sanjiang Normal College in 1902. During the nationwide restructuring of universities and colleges in 1952, the Department of Economics and Management of Nanjing University were merged into other universities and colleges. In 1978, Nanjing University resumed Department of Economics and established the Department of Management in 1986. In 1988, the International Business School of Nanjing University was formally established, which was renamed Nanjing University Business School in 2000.    

    

Since the establishment in 1988, NJUBS gradually realized coordinated multidisciplinary development. Today, NJUBS consists of the School of Economics and the School of Management. The School of Economics has four departments (the Department of Economics, the Department of International Economics and Trade, the Department of Finance and Insurance, and the Department of Industrial Economics) and Population Research Institute. the School of Management also consists of four departments, including the Department of Business Administration, the Department of Accounting, the Department of Marketing and E-Commerce and the Department of Human Resources Management.   


NJUBS provides 11 undergraduate programs, 17 Postgraduate Programs (6 Professional Degree Programs are included), 3 first-class discipline doctoral programs, 12 second-class discipline doctoral programs and 3 post-doctoral mobile stations (Theoretical Economics, Applied Economics and Business Administration) and has established a number of research centers and institutes, including two National Key Disciplines (Political Economics and Enterprise Management), National Key Cultivation Discipline (World Economy), National Basic Discipline Talent Training Base (Economics), Humanities and Social Sciences Key Research Base by the Ministry of Education (Nanjing University Yangtze River Delta Economic and Social Development Research Center), national-level collaborative innovation center (Collaborative Innovation Center for Socialist Economic Construction with Chinese Characteristics led by Nankai University), National Teaching Team, and Changjiang Scholar Innovation Team by the Ministry of Education.    

 

NJUBS has highly competent faculty with professional academic background. Today we have 257 faculty members, of which 66 are professors (53 Ph.D. Supervisors are included) and 55 are associate professors, and 18 assistant professors. Among them, there are two members of Social Science and Technology Commission granted by the Ministry of Education (one Deputy Director is included); a Disciplinary Review Group Member of Academic Degrees Committee by the State Council; 6 Changjiang Scholarship Professors;  4 National-Level Candidates for 100 Million Talent Project by the Ministry of Personnel, a National Young and Middle-aged Expert with Outstanding Contributions, 3 national-level Teaching Master Award Winners, 3 Chair Professors selected by Changjiang Scholarship Program, 14 recipients of Special Allowances from the State Council, 2 Cross-Century Excellent Talents Training Program by the Ministry of Education, a winner for Higher Education Young Teacher Award by the Ministry of Education, a National Teaching Master for Million Talent Plan, 2 Leading Talents in Philosophy And Social Sciences, a Young Talent and 2 Senior Professors in Humanities and Social Sciences at Nanjing University.   

   

NJUBS has made remarkable achievement and results in education and talent training. At present, the number of enrolled students is over 5000, among which 1687 are undergraduates and 3200 are graduate students (including professional masters). NJUBS has won many awards, including the First Prize of National Teaching Achievement Award, the Second Prize of Higher Education Teaching Achievement by the Ministry of Education (four times), and the First Prize of Excellent Achievements for Higher Education Teaching in Jiangsu Province (including Grand Prize once and First Prize 3 times). In addition, four papers have been awarded as National Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation; two papers have been nominated. 19 papers have been selected into National 100 Excellent Management Cases.   

   

On the other hand, a close cooperative relationship is built with Maastricht School of Management, Cornell University, University of Missouri, Johns Hopkins University and Georg-August-University of Goettingen respectively, which aims to foster outstanding business elites. In June 2013, NJUBS was officially given AACSB Business School Accreditation. In June 2016, MBA/ EMBA program was accredited by CAMEA.
